ErgoBASETM Knowledgebase
The ErgoBASETM ergonomics knowledgebase is a web based multi-media tool that was developed by ErgoANSWERSTM to handle the ergonomics information needs of enterprise employees. The precursor was developed when it was noticed that three FTEs were kept busy full time handling calls from employees about ergonomics in a company with over 23,000 employees worldwide. Study of the problem found that 75% of the calls were basic and repetitive. As a result, a web based ergonomics knowledgebase was built to handle these questions and to provide information on a myriad of ergonomics issues that employees may be faced with.
The ErgoBASETM was so successful that two of the support FTEs were able to be reassigned providing huge savings to the program. Customer surveys showed a 98% favorable rating for the knowledgebase program with employees. The key is in designing a knowledgebase that meets up directly with the specific needs of the employees. ErgoANSWERSTM found that using a multi-media approach that answers employee questions was a better solution than using live personnel to answer questions. This is because the employee could get their answers immediately and could learn more as they wanted with text, pictures and video. The employees could choose the medium that works best for them. The best results were found when the ErgoBASETM was specifically developed using the furniture and tools the employees worked with every day.
