ErgoANSWERSTM ErgoSPECTM

ErgoSPECTM Furniture and ergonomics equipment specification service goes all the way.  This service will go to the most basic levels of you processes in order to understand the jobs and tasks that drive the need for furniture and equipment.

"There is no way to properly specify the best furniture or equipment fit without first fully understanding the job." - Hank Austin, CSP, MS

FURNITURE SPECIFICATION
Most companies turn the furniture specifying over to their interior designers in the facilities group.  They are typically given a budget and the number of people that need to fit into a space.  Then price and aesthetics are the primary drivers.  Or the company may be running out of building space and facilities is directed to provide a smaller workstation.  It is very, very rare that a company will actually determine what the specific workstation needs are based upon process, work, job, equipment and of course the people.  As a result they typically provide too much space when there is plenty of room and too little when room runs out.  All of this can very dramatically impact productivity in a negative manner.  And in these days of recession there is very little that is more important than productivity, accuracy and injury avoidance.

ERGONOMICS EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION
Many companies think that all there is to an ergonomics program is providing some adjustability to the furniture.  But, in fact there is a lot more to this process.  First, remember that ergonomics is about the individual.  That means that there is no one size fits all solution.  Many times a company will provide adjustable keyboard trays and new chairs and think they are done.  This type of approach can make the problem worse.  If the equipment is not specific to the tasks and the people they can easily increase reaches and wrist extension putting the employees at more risk than before.

ErgoANSWERSTM will help you ensure that the furniture and equipment you use will be part of the solution.
